When God gave me the privilege of visiting lands where people were literally dying from hunger, He laid upon my heart to lead my congregation, First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC, in a concerted effort to try to meet this desperate need. The vision of the plastic bowl was born. The Scripture impressed me of that time when Jesus said to His disciples “You give them food.” A little lad gave his small meal to Jesus and He multiplied it.The vision was presented to the Lord in prayer and the idea of a plastic bowl was born. Over 3,000,000 have already been used in churches and we believe that many more will be used by Christians around the nation and beyond.

Rice Bowls Founder
Rice Bowls is a wonderful, sound organization. I'm pleased that they are a part of our
state.
Mark Hammond, South Carolina Secretary of State
Because Rice Bowls can be such an easy success, its a great way to
boost your youth's confidence in doing mission work. They can make a
big impact.
Paige Roberts, First United Methodist, Bristol, TN
We are a small congregation - our outreach usually raises about $200-300. This effort was very successful! [They raised $395.70]

Using the Rice Bowls is an easy and meaningful project that has taught our elementary aged children that giving spare change to feed hungry children can make a difference in their lives. Our children not only learned how to give money from their piggy banks or by doing extra chores, they learned that by giving that they can be catalysts for making a positive difference in the lives of other children.
Kim Deering, Reidville Elementary School
My Jr-High kids are really excited about doing this. You have made it so easy for kids to do. Thank you so much!
Regina Bailey, Shout Jr. High, Chattanooga, TN
I have been surfing the net for a way to help Africa for the past 2 years now. I am a single mom of a 9 and 6 year old and don't have a lot of time to volunteer or $ to donate. I think it would be a great way to involve these age groups in helping their "brothers and sisters" who are not as fortunate to have a penny to spare. I plan on using them as gift bags for 2 birthday parties in November and as an adjunct to presents for Christmas. I will ask for them to be returned as a birthday present for me in January.

blessing we will be to many. Thank you for this wonderful way to serve and give.

Seeing, firsthand, rice go into the mouths of precious orphans in India, made my desire for my family and the children I serve at my home church to invest their change and their prayers in Rice Bowls!

After visiting El-Shadai Orphanage in India
Rice Bowls are fun because you get to go around your house, looking
for loose change everywhere. It’s kind of like a scavenger hunt. After
you find it, it’s fun to put it in a big pile and count it. That way
you know how much you found. You get change for orphans so they can eat
food, and it’s a bunch of fun while you do it.

Quite possibly the most beautiful word in the English language is mercy. It speaks of an active sympathy which not only pities the plight of someone in distress but actually kneels down in order to assist them. At the very center of this universe is a God who kneels down in mercy to assist those in great need.
The will of God for every person who has received His mercy is to become a funnel of that mercy. Every time the church obeys the Lord in serving and giving, someone will experience the rescuing and renewing power of His mercy. Our bodies are like musical instruments through which God plays songs of mercy in a broken world.
When the disciples reported to Jesus that a large crowd of people was hungry, He replied, “You give them something to eat.” He wanted to feed the crowd through their hands as they viewed the crowd through His eyes. For the past twenty years of ministry it has been my great joy to watch Jesus feed thousands of hungry people around the world through Rice Bowls. My ultimate desire is to see every follower of God respond to the timeless challenge of Jesus Christ, “You give them something to eat.”
Rev. Richard Smith, Lead Pastor, Hope Point Community Church, Spartanburg, SC
I pastored a church in Florida about 6 years ago, and that is where I first heard about your organization. We also had a very successful campaign for world hunger while I was there, using Rice Bowls. What interested me about your ministry is its goal - simply to help provide food for those who are hungry around the world (now focusing on children). We take so much for granted, here in America, and it is humbling to be able to bless others with what we have left over. It makes us appreciate what we have been blessed with, all the more. Every penny is needed - and most folks will never miss that change. That is exactly what I intend to do here - issue another "pocket change challenge" to my church. The idea is simply to put all of your pocket change for a month into the Rice Bowls, instead of the change bowl people have in their house.
Kevin Carter, Pastor, Harmony Fellowship, Eddyville, KY
Easy and very successful!
