Our
Values: Biblical Basis
Rice BowlsTM Values have been prayerfully derived from Biblical teaching, including the following Scriptures.
All
verses from the New International Version (NIV) translation.
Mercy
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to
walk humbly with your God. – Micah
6:8
The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth,
whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for
me.' – Matthew 25:40
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure
and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and
to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. – James 1:27
Service
"Teacher, which
is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind.'
This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your
neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and
the Prophets hang on these two commandments." – Matthew 22:36-40
Be devoted to one
another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. – Romans
12:10
Equipping
It was he who gave some to be apostles,
some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and
teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of
Christ may be built up. – Ephesians
4:11-12
And in the church God
has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then
workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help
others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different
kinds of tongues. – 1 Corinthians 12:28
Partnership
The body is a unit, though it is made up
of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is
with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews
or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Now
the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say,
"Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not
for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say,
"Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not
for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye,
where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would
the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body,
every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part,
where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye
cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say
to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the
body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are
less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable
are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special
treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater
honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the
body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part
suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part
rejoices with it. Now you are the body
of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. – 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
Each man should give
what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion,
for God loves a cheerful giver. – 2 Corinthians 9:7
Integrity
Nothing in all creation is hidden from
God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to
whom we must give account. – Hebrews 4:13
Now it is required
that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. – 1 Corinthians
4:2
For we are taking
pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the
eyes of men. – 2 Corinthians 8:21
Excellence
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord
Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. – Colossians 3:17
